Site Background

Originally built in 1922, this 100-year-old building has certainly been worth the wait! This very unique building has had three lives before transforming into an architectural studio. At first the building was a candy factory which was later turned into a tire warehouse. It was then again renovated and turned into a loft apartment. MKC takes great value in the preservation and restoration of historic buildings and we are very proud to to call 161 N 4th Street our new home.

In Columbus, 4th Street is one of the main arteries of the city.  Starting at the tip of German Village, it runs north through Downtown, Italian Village, Weinland Park, the University Area, and finally ending at the south end of Clintonville.  Recently, 4th Street has been at the center of a resurgence in the downtown core.  Nestled between new neighbors Pins and Jackie O’s, we hope to add to both the vibrancy and the patronage, of these establishments. 4th Street is quickly becoming a second High Street through Italian Village and the “South Fourth” area of Downtown is adding bars, restaurants, and housing at a dizzying pace.
