This project involved the adaptive reuse of a former abandoned grocery store. The scope included renovating 60,000 sq. ft of space into a new wellness center for the local hospital.
The facility incorporates 20,000 sq. ft. of workout area including free weights, nautilus, stationary bikes, treadmills and aerobics room; running track and basketball courts. New locker rooms and showers were also included. A central lobby and reception area greets customers as they come through the doors.
A large physical therapy department was added for the hospital along with a separate Work-Able clinic area to provide comprehensive single source occupational health services for business and industry in the area.
MED CENTRAL WELLNESS
The primary entrance of the building features the re-use of an existing overhead canopy. This canopy was repurposed to give the heath center a new public face that lights up with Med Central branding at night.
The building features a series of different pod stations, each unique, that serve the various functions of the center.
