City of New Philadelphia, OH

Originally designed in 1928 by MKC firm founder, Charles Marr, this fine example of the federal style architecture first served as an Elks Lodge.

The building’s impressive architecture and location adjacent to the existing municipal building, led to consideration for use as city offices. The challenge was to adapt 17,000 SF of interior space originally intended for large group use into specialized public offices with current technology, while maintaining the building’s aesthetics. The design also had to factor in the efficient functional relationships between many diverse city offices.
